"The canvas and brushes are the true artists. If left to their own ruling, they will create the best work. I'm just a spectator"                                                                                          - Marcy Grosso

Marcy Grosso’s life and art reflect a unique bridge between traditional Cuban culture and the vibrant energy of modern Miami. Influenced by the romantic spirit of her Spanish and Cuban heritage and inspired by the dynamic world around her, Grosso brings emotion, color, and spontaneity to every canvas.

Subtly influenced by Impressionist masters Paul Cézanne and Vincent van Gogh, Grosso allows her creativity to flow freely and intuitively. Working exclusively on black canvases, she creates richly expressive paintings filled with fiery reds, earthy browns, and warm ochres, contrasted by vibrant bursts of white, blue, green, and yellow.

Grosso does not use preliminary tracing or pencil sketches. Instead, she paints directly from emotion, allowing each work to develop organically. Even when she begins a painting, she may not know exactly what the finished image will become. As the colors and forms emerge, the painting seems to reveal itself on the canvas.

Her work has been exhibited at prestigious art events including the Coconut Grove Art Festival, Art Expo Las Vegas, the Beaux Arts Festival, and Carnaval on the Mile in Coral Gables.

Grosso’s honors and commissions include creating the official Town of Miami Lakes poster for BankUnited, the 2004 South Miami Festival poster, and the 2010 Taste of Miami Lakes poster. She was also selected to create the official poster for the National Center for Farmworker Health.

Her artwork is held in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Europe, and China.

Through her distinctive use of color, emotion, and the unexpected possibilities of the black canvas, Marcy Grosso continues to create artwork that is vibrant, personal, and unmistakably her own.
